Salty’s Waterfront Grill held a Tacky Tourist Party on Tuesday, September 24th as part of the Conchtoberfest celebration in Marathon. The event raised almost $500 for Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys. A special thank you to Salty’s and the generous residents of Marathon.
Physical therapist Sandy Riegor recently received the American Physical Therapy Association’s Lucy Blair Service Award during the APIA Conference & Exposition in Salt Lake City.
Riegor will also be awarded The Legacy award at the Florida Physical Therapy Association Annual Conference in Orlando on Sept. 28.
The Lucy Blair Service Award honors members who have made exceptional contributions to the association through district chapter, committee, section, task force or national activities. The Legacy Award is given at the Florida chapter level to a member for services to the FPTA that will forever effect the association.
Riegor is supervisor of rehabilitation services at Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of the Florida Keys. Also, She is the recipient of several APTA chapter awards including the FPTA Inspiration Award in 2012, Outstanding Service Award in 2006 and the President’s Award for Distinguished Service in 1997.
Riegor is a member of the Zonta Club of Marathon and serves as chair of the Health Committee.
Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys [VNA/Hospice] announces healthcare professional Gregory R. Sonn, D.O. has joined their team of physicians.
Dr. Sonn will provide medical care to Hospice of the Florida Keys patients at home, as well to its patients who reside at Key West Health and Rehabilitation. Board certified in Family Practice and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Dr. Sonn also will assist VNA/Hospice in implementing other programs to bridge home care and hospice care.
“I am very enthusiastic about accepting this position with VNA/Hospice, and amlooking forward to making Key West’s paradise my new home,” Dr. Sonn stated. “My medical background is uniquely suited to this work, and I will bring my skills to bear in providing the best home, palliative and hospice healthcare to VNA/Hospice patients.”

Prior to VNA/Hospice, Dr. Sonn was Vitas Innovative Health System’s Associate Medical Director for Dade and Monroe counties where he was responsible for direct patient care of all hospice patients in the northern Keys. Prior to Vitas, Dr. Sonn had an accomplished medical career in Ft. Myers as a physician in skilled nursing facilities, heading up health care teams and managing palliative care. He also served as Medical Director at Hope Hospice and Chief Medical Officer at Hope Health Care.
